Good Salon Training Guide

The Academy of Hair and Beauty are proud to announce we are members of the Good Salon Training Guide.

The Good Salon Guide is the only independent, nationwide scheme for assessing professional standards and services within the hairdressing and beauty industries. Listing around 2,000 salons in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the Good Salon Guide has become the kitemark of quality for the public and hairdressing industry.

Hairdressing salons are visited and objectively assessed by professionally trained inspectors against a set of strict criteria in the same way as the well-known AA or RAC hotel guides, giving consumers confidence in their choice.

All salons are reassessed annually.

A Good Salon Guide rating shows that the salon has suitably trained and qualified staff, top quality products and aims to achieve and maintain the highest standards.

Jessica Verity – Make-up Artist

Jessica Verity is our guest Make-up Educator in the Academy. She will be delivering a range of specialised make-up courses in the New Year.

Here is a bit of information from Jess:

I’ve always has a passion for makeup and after looking around a some different course options I decided to apply to train with the Beauty Academy 4 years ago. Since completing the course I’ve had a successful career in bridal, fashion and editorial makeup and have worked for some well known names in the industry.
To begin with I knew I had to build up my clientele and so went about renting a chair in a local salon ‘Shelleys’. As Well as doing bridal and evening makeup the salon I would also ask to be involved in various photo shoots that were taking place. This enabled me to build on my experience in fashion makeup and progress onto other projects within the industry including shoots for various fashion houses on ASOS, catwalk hair shows for Milkshake, and most recently I worked on a collection for a stylist who was entering the British Hair Awards.

I’ve also worked for Louise Redknaps beauty brand ’Wild about Beauty’ where I’ve had the opportunity to do makeup on well known DJ’s, beauty bloggers and celebrities such as Daisy Lowe and Ashley James from Channel 4’s Made in Chelsea.

I continue to love makeup as much as I did 4 years ago and my proudest moment so far has been to see my work published in magazines internationally. ‘
